K-870 Tri-Hole Fiber Optic Stripper

Three factory-set holes strip the fiber down layer by layer — 1.6–3.0 mm jacket, 600–900 µm buffer, 250 µm coating — to clean 125 µm bare fiber. The stripping chart is printed on the handle, and the big return spring reopens the tool for the next strip.

Features

K-870 key features

  • Three factory-set holes cover the whole strip: 1.6–3.0 mm jacket, 600–900 µm buffer and 250 µm coating, down to clean 125 µm bare fiber
  • The stripping reference is printed on the handle — the layer chart (1.6–3 mm → 600–900 µm → 250 µm → 125 µm) sits in your hand, so the right hole is picked at a glance
  • Precision notches are pre-set at the factory and never need adjustment; made to precise tolerances, they strip the coating without scratching or nicking the glass
  • A large return spring reopens the handles after every strip — less hand strain across a long run of terminations
  • Locking latch holds the tool closed in the pouch or kit; the alloy steel head keeps its edge through shift after shift
  • Private labeling made to your requirements — the K-870 is one of our three core label products, alongside the K-35 cleaver and the KS-1 shears

How It Works

How the K-870 strips — hole by hole

Stripping is where a splice or termination is won or lost. The fiber arrives wearing three layers — the 1.6–3.0 mm jacket, the 600–900 µm buffer, the 250 µm coating — and all three have to come off before cleaning and cleaving, without a blade ever touching the 125 µm glass: a single nick becomes a break at the cleaver, or a splice that fails its loss test. The K-870 takes the layers off one per hole, in fixed factory-set notches, so the strip is the same on the first fiber of the day and the hundredth.

Work from the outside in, largest hole first. The first hole strips the 1.6–3.0 mm jacket down to the 600–900 µm buffer. The second hole strips the buffer down to the 250 µm coating. The third hole — the fine one — strips the coating to expose the 125 µm bare fiber, ready for cleaning and cleaving. There is nothing to memorise: the sequence is printed on the handle as a layer chart, 1.6–3 mm → 600–900 µm → 250 µm → 125 µm, with a bar for each step, so a new hand picks the right hole the first time and every time.

To use it: seat the fiber in the right hole, close the handles, and draw the tool along the fiber in one smooth stroke — the big coil spring between the handles reopens the tool for the next strip, and the latch beside the pivot locks it shut for storage. Keep the notches clean: brush out coating dust after a session, because a dirty notch is what scores fiber. Never close the stripper on steel strength members, wire or aramid yarn — those are cutting jobs, and they notch the edges. And wear safety glasses when stripping: the job leaves bare glass shards, which belong in the sharps bin, not on the bench.

FAQ

Questions about the K-870

Which hole do I use for each layer?

Work from the outside in: the first hole strips the 1.6–3.0 mm jacket to the 600–900 µm buffer, the second hole strips the buffer to the 250 µm coating, and the third hole strips the coating to the 125 µm bare fiber. The same sequence is printed on the handle as a layer chart.

Do the stripping holes need adjusting?

No. The notches are pre-set at the factory and are not user-adjustable. Used on the right layer, they strip the coating cleanly without scratching or nicking the 125 µm fiber.

Can the K-870 carry our own brand?

Private labeling is made to your requirements and confirmed per order — labels with your logo, part numbers and barcodes on the tools, the inner boxes and the outer cartons, ready for your warehouse. The products most often labeled are the K-35 cleaver, the KS-1 Kevlar shears and the K-870 stripper.

Can we order a small lot, unbranded?

Yes. Neutral stock is held for the core range: small lots are welcome, you can mix models in one shipment, and restock as you sell. Prices are on request — EXW factory pricing.
