Fiber Strippers · CFS-2/3

CFS-2/3 Fiber Optic Stripper

The two- and three-hole precision stripper for fiber preparation: factory-set notches take the fiber down layer by layer — jacket, buffer, coating — to clean 125 µm bare fiber, with no adjustment and nothing touching the glass.

Features

CFS-2/3 key features

  • Two models, one job: the CFS-3 strips all three layers — jacket, 900 µm buffer, 250 µm coating; the CFS-2 covers the jacket and coating steps in two holes
  • Factory-set blade notches need no adjustment — the tool strips correctly out of the packet, first time and every time
  • All stripping surfaces are manufactured to precise tolerances, for a clean, smooth strip that will not scratch or nick the 125 µm fiber
  • Spring-loaded handles reopen the jaws for the next strip; the locking latch keeps the tool shut in the pouch or kit
  • Ergonomic thermoplastic elastomer grips fit comfortably in either hand, right or left
  • A standard content of our FTTH tool kits

How It Works

How the CFS-2/3 strips — hole by hole

Stripping is where a splice or termination is won or lost. Once the cable is opened and the aramid strength member is cut back, the fiber still wears its layers — the 1.6–3.0 mm jacket, the 900 µm tight buffer and the 250 µm coating — and all of them have to come off without a blade ever touching the 125 µm glass: a single nick becomes a break at the cleaver, or a splice that fails its loss test. The CFS-2/3 does that removal in fixed, factory-set holes, one layer per hole, so the strip is repeatable from the first fiber of the day to the last.

Work from the outside in. On the CFS-3, the first hole strips the 1.6–3.0 mm jacket down to the 900 µm tight buffer; the second hole strips the buffer down to the 250 µm coating; the third hole — the fine one, at the tip — strips the coating to expose the 125 µm bare fiber, ready for cleaning and cleaving. The CFS-2 keeps the two end steps in two holes: its first hole takes the jacket down to the buffer, and its second hole takes the 250 µm coating down to bare fiber. That is the right pattern for loose-tube work, where the fiber inside the tube is already at its 250 µm coating once the jacket is off; pick the CFS-3 when you strip tight-buffered fiber layer by layer, all day.

The notches are pre-set at the factory and never need adjustment: seat the fiber in the right hole, close the handles, and draw the tool along the fiber in one smooth stroke — the spring reopens the jaws for the next strip, and the little latch by the pivot locks the tool shut for storage. Keep the notches clean: blow or brush out coating dust after a session, because a dirty notch is what scores fiber. Never close the stripper on steel strength members, wire or the aramid yarn — those are cutting jobs, and they notch the edges. And wear safety glasses when stripping — the warning is etched on the tool for a reason: the job leaves bare glass shards, which belong in the sharps bin, not on the bench.

FAQ

Questions about the CFS-2/3

CFS-2 or CFS-3 — which one do I need?

The CFS-3 has a hole for each layer — jacket, 900 µm buffer and 250 µm coating — and strips tight-buffered fiber step by step. The CFS-2 has two holes (jacket and coating) and suits loose-tube work, where the fiber is already at its 250 µm coating once the jacket is off. Same tool body and length; the difference is the middle hole.

Do the stripping holes need adjusting?

No. The blade notches are pre-set at the factory and are not user-adjustable. Used on the right layer, they strip the coating cleanly without scratching or nicking the 125 µm fiber.

Can the CFS-2/3 carry our own brand?

Private labeling is made to your requirements and confirmed per order — labels with your logo, part numbers and barcodes on the tools, the inner boxes and the outer cartons, ready for your warehouse. The products most often labeled are the K-35 cleaver, the KS-1 Kevlar shears and the K-870 stripper.

Can we order a small lot, unbranded?

Yes. Neutral stock is held for the core range: small lots are welcome, you can mix models in one shipment, and restock as you sell. Prices are on request — EXW factory pricing.
