How It Works

How a Splice Protection Sleeve Works

Every fusion splice leaves one weak point: a short length of bare glass where the coating was stripped away. The protection sleeve is threaded onto one fiber before splicing; after the arc, it is slid over the joint and heated in the splicer's heater oven.

Heat does three jobs at once. The outer polyolefin tube shrinks tight. The inner hot-melt adhesive liquefies and flows around the bare fiber, sealing out moisture and locking the coating ends. And the stainless steel pin inside holds the whole joint straight and rigid while it sets.

Shrunk down, the sleeve is a clear, stiff splint about 2.6 mm across: the splice can be inspected through it, coiled into a tray and forgotten — which is exactly what a splice should be.

Questions about the KM-60

Can the KM-60 carry our own brand?

Private labeling is made to your requirements and confirmed per order — labels with your logo, part numbers and barcodes on the tools, the inner boxes and the outer cartons, ready for your warehouse. The products most often labeled are the K-35 cleaver, the KS-1 Kevlar shears and the K-870 stripper.

Can we order a small lot, unbranded?

Yes. Neutral stock is held for the core range: small lots are welcome, you can mix models in one shipment, and restock as you sell. Prices are on request — EXW factory pricing.
