KW-04 key features
- A real fusion joint, not a mechanical one — the connector's stub is welded to the field fiber in a standard splicer
- Two builds: the 58 mm type for drop and round cable, and the 0.9 mm type for tight-buffered fiber
- SC/APC (green) and SC/UPC (blue), factory-polished ferrules
- Heat-shrink protection sleeve included — the splice is sealed inside the connector tail
- Insertion loss typical ≤0.3 dB after fusion; return loss ≥55 dB UPC and ≥60 dB APC

How It Works — when the job wants a weld, not a clamp
Hot-melt (splice-on) connectors take the opposite bet from fast connectors: instead of a mechanical V-groove joint, the field fiber is fusion-spliced to the connector's factory stub, and the heat-shrink sleeve seals the weld inside the housing. Any core-alignment splicer does it, and the result is optically a factory cord — with the length made on site.
Choose the 58 mm KW-04 for drop and round cable terminations, and the slim 0.9 mm type for pigtail-style work inside closures and panels. If no splicer is on the truck, the mechanical KW-01 is the same SC interface without the weld.
