Optical Cable Identifier K-200

Finds the one cable you want inside a manhole or duct full of identical ones: tap the cable, and the K-200 turns the knock into a tone and a bar reading — nothing is cut, bent or frozen.

Single fiber1550 nmSingle-mode40 km or 100 km (by version)

Typical work: Picking the target cable out of a crowded manhole, duct or tunnel run before cutting or splicing; Verifying cable identity where records are wrong or labels are missing; Aerial, conduit and buried routes where several operators' cables share the path; Pre-work confirmation on live cables that cannot be interrupted for identification.

Features

K-200 key features

  • Non-invasive identification: the photo-elastic effect turns a gentle tap on the target cable into audio and visual signals — the fiber is never cut, bent or frozen, and live traffic on it is untouched
  • Two reaches: 40 km and 100 km versions, working over a single fiber at 1550 nm, with no initial blind zone
  • Reads by ear and by eye: the sound tracks how hard the cable is knocked, while the screen shows a bar chart or ECG trace — usable in a noisy street cabinet or a quiet plant room
  • Works with PC, APC or cut fiber ends, and in manholes, tunnels, conduits and aerial spans alike
  • 5.6-inch touch screen plus buttons, ten hours or more on the built-in lithium battery, 1.5 kg complete

How It Works

How tap-and-listen cable identification works

Records lie and labels fall off; a duct can hold a dozen cables that all look the same. The old ways of proving which is which — cutting, bending or freezing the fiber — interrupt service and can damage the cable. The K-200 works differently: a coherent 1550 nm signal is launched into the fiber at one end, and when the cable is tapped, the mechanical disturbance changes the light through the photo-elastic effect. The instrument reads that disturbance and plays it back as sound and as a bar or ECG trace.

In practice one technician connects the identifier at the accessible end and a second walks the route, tapping each candidate cable. On the wrong cables the screen stays flat and the earpiece stays silent; on the target cable every tap answers back, louder the harder the knock. Because nothing about the fiber is disturbed, the method works on live cables — even while the fiber is under cut or splicing conditions — and the identification holds over 40 km or 100 km of route depending on the version.

FAQ

Questions about the K-200

Can the K-200 carry our own brand?

Private labeling is made to your requirements and confirmed per order — labels with your logo, part numbers and barcodes on the tools, the inner boxes and the outer cartons, ready for your warehouse. The products most often labeled are the K-35 cleaver, the KS-1 Kevlar shears and the K-870 stripper.

Can we order a small lot, unbranded?

Yes. Neutral stock is held for the core range: small lots are welcome, you can mix models in one shipment, and restock as you sell. Prices are on request — EXW factory pricing.
