How It Works — one push across the whole MT ferrule
An MPO ferrule carries 8, 12 or 24 fibers in one face, so one dirty ferrule can take out a whole trunk at once. The pen's guide cap centres the cleaning tip on the MT ferrule — over the guide pins of a male connector, or, with the upper guide cover removed, onto a female connector or the connector sitting inside an adapter. Push the body in until it clicks and a fresh section of dry microfiber tape wipes across every fiber position on the face; the tape then advances on its own, ready for the next connector.
The tape is a fine-fibre filament cloth: it lifts dust, oil and debris off the end face without alcohol or solvents, so there is nothing to spill, nothing to dry, and no residue left to pull the next layer of dust in. The cleaning tape is visible through the window in the body, so you can see how much is left before you climb to the panel.
Work through high-density panels connector by connector — the long slim nose reaches MPO adapters packed side by side. Keep the guide cap on between jobs. When the tape is finished, replace the pen: it is a consumable, not a tool to refill, and it is never taken apart.
